飕 ceipt of Sir M. Omnanney's telegram of the 8th. ultimo and

of his Despatch No. 373 of the 9th, idem on the subject of the boundary between the Naval and War Department Property and the proposed Praya East Reclamation.

I regret that on behalf of this Colony and of the Marine Lotholders, whose interests are very seriously involved, I am unable to accept the proposals of the two Departments mentioned, and I venture to think that when I have placed you in possession of the facts and arguments, which I shall proceed to detail, you will agree with me that the pro- posals made by this Goverment and accepted by the representa- tives on the spot of the two Imperial Departments concerned are equitable and reasonable and worthy of acceptance.

It is stated in the 3rd. paragraph of the Despatch under acknowledgment that the present boundaries of "the Admiralty and War Office Reclamations were agreed to many years ago by the Colonial Government, and are already being "constructed so that they cannot now be re-considered".

As far as the Eastern boundary of the

Reclamations is concerned there is a mistake in the above
